Reflection on ICT use in teaching and learning
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is very useful tool to facilitate virtual and face-to-face teaching and learning. It is has become critical during the time of lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic. ICT enables self-paced learning through various tools such as assignment; as a result of this the teaching learning enterprise has become more productive and meaningful. ICT helps facilitate the transaction between teachers and learners by keeping the students updated and enhancing teachers capacity and ability fostering a live contact between the teacher and the student through e-mail, chalk session, e-learning, web-based learning including internet, intranet, extranet, CD-ROM, TV audio-videotape and social media like Wechat and Telegram.
ICT has become very
powerful media for interactive participation of experts and learners and it
reaches the unreachable. Emerging learning Technology (ELT) of bogging,
Integrated Learning Modules, a pod cast, Wikis, Enhancement of Browsers,
e-learning, M-learning, U-learning have started making rapid strides in
teaching learning processes. Since I am teaching Mathematics and English for classs I,
section A at Changzamtog Middle secondary school in Thimphu, my blog post will
be related lessons.
I prepared a short video clip on addition and subtraction strategies using ten-frames, number lines and counting the numbers. Children had been in fact, without a doubt thrilled as I was readying the video as per the feedback received. This act has given me a speedy sense that youth love mastering via different method, exclusively using the ICT mode. I instructed them to watch the video attentively so to understand the concept clearly. I too reminded them to answer some questions in the text after watching the video. I could see that there have been lots to share in their group. Each child in the group desired to speak and argues in discussion. This type of high-quality learning attitude proven by way of young children actually made me recognize that integrating ICT in the lesson is very high-quality method. ICT is really useful tool to reach students and get their feedback during the nationwide lockdown in Bhutan. I had also sent the images for learning through Wechat and Telegram.
